Badora Dance Company

The Badora Dance Company was founded in December 2008 by Dóra Barta, Harangozó Award winner and Merited Artist. The leader of the company became known as a solo dancer of the Budapest Dance Theatre and the Szeged Contemporary Dance Company. She started her creative activities and choreographies with her own troupe, and now she regularly works, for example, for the Hungarian State Opera House and the Palace of Arts. In her pieces, she mainly combines the most defining features of classical ballet and contemporary dance styles at the highest level of dance technique. Her company can also be identified through the creator's unique, distinctive artistic image and the appearance of current development trends in international dance life. Made up of highly trained dance artists, the company considers creativity based on uncompromising quality work as its main artistic creative force, and it has become one of the most unique companies in Hungarian dance life in recent years.

After 2011, most of their performances, including several highly successful shows, were created in collaboration with the National Dance Theatre. Productions made from cultic literary or musical works play a decisive role in the steadily enriching career of Dóra Barta and the Badora Dance Company: Shakespeare (Romeo and Juliet), Garcia Lorca (The House of Bernarda Alba), Sylvia Plath (The Bell Jar) or The Tales of Hoffmann, Lulu, Ördöghomok (Devil's Sand), Pianissimo, the large-scale production Lajtha as well as the works of Béla Bartók and Zoltán Kodály (Bartókodály). Their joint productions, which have recently achieved outstanding professional success, include the Gyöngyhalász (Pearl Fisherman), Kingdom, the Lótusz projekt (Lotus project) and Melinda. The works of Dóra Barta are characterised by strong ideas behind the presented works. Her vision and spirituality make her the driving force behind forward-looking theatre life.
