Hungarian National Dance Ensemble

As its name also reflects, the Hungarian National Dance Ensemble, Hungary's largest professional folk dance group, is a dedicated guardian and promoter of our national heritage and our millennial traditions. The name accurately expresses the ensemble's mission and also its obligation; the responsible and professional work that they do in order to introduce and popularise Hungarian folklore and to raise it to an artistic status. Hungarian folk dance is the liveliest guardian of the national characteristics, and at the same time the simplest form of communication between different peoples, since we can learn about each other's customs, temperament and tastes without knowing each other's mother tongue. When you dance, you sincerely reveal yourself and your "soul" opens up. We believe that getting to know the traditions of different nationalities and respecting and preserving each other's culture is the pledge and symbol of our survival here in the Carpathian Basin. This original, traditional folk dance and folk music culture forms the basis of our ensemble work and stage productions, through which we have been trying for many years to present our viewers with new experiences as ambassadors of traditional folk dance and folk music culture, from authentic folklore shows and fairy tales to large-scale historical dance plays. Our productions are characterised by extraordinary dynamics, virtuoso dances, spectacular stage images and some inexplicable magic, which are rooted in our past and become our present through our souls.
